A used board game can be desirable when it is complete and accurately described. The difficult part is often verification, not finding a cheap box. A low purchase price can disappear into an hour of counting pieces and a costly return for one missing card.
A small offer to test
Sell checked games with edition details, component completeness, box condition, and photos of the actual contents.

One email per experiment. Full numbers, no fluff.
How to start
- Compare the contents with an authoritative component list for that edition. Keep similar editions separate.
- Inspect cards, boards, and storage inserts for damage or odors. Disclose missing pieces clearly rather than assuming they do not matter.
- Calculate shipping from the packed box and protect corners. Keep your inventory count with the listing record.
Finding the first buyers
Players replacing an old favorite or seeking a specific edition are likely buyers. Accurate edition names help them find the right item.
Work through the economics
A hypothetical $40 sale minus $8 purchase cost, $15 shipping and selling costs, and $2 supplies leaves $15 before tax, overhead, returns, and labor. Ninety minutes of work makes that $10 per hour.
Contribution is what remains after the costs stated in the example; it is not take-home profit. Include unpaid sales time, setup, support, unsuccessful attempts, and any omitted overhead when deciding whether the idea is worth your time.
What can make it a poor fit
Do not reproduce missing proprietary components for resale without appropriate rights. Check product recalls and age suitability.
How much work continues?
Every game needs a fresh count. Standardized checklists help, but sourcing and fulfillment remain active.
Your first decision point
Track inspection time on five games and avoid categories where completeness is too difficult to verify.
