Short answer: the money is real. One study, about an hour of my time, $95. The part nobody warns you about is what happens on either side of that hour.
Getting picked takes months, not days
I checked the site every few days for about six months before a single study accepted me. Applying is free and quick, and almost all of them go nowhere. If you are picturing this as something you sign up for on Monday and get paid for on Friday, adjust that now.

One email per experiment. Full numbers, no fluff.
The study that took me wanted a profession, not an opinion
It was looking for electrical engineers, which is what I am. That is the pattern worth knowing: the studies that pay properly are not consumer surveys, they are companies paying to talk to someone who does a specific job. If your job is on that list you have a real chance. If it is not, you are competing with everyone.
The pay was exactly as advertised
$95 for roughly an hour of talking. No haggling, no reduced rate, no unpaid preparation. On the money itself Respondent did what it said it would do.
Then the payment
It came as a prepaid Visa card, and I could not use it where I live. I had to go and find a shop that would accept it. The money was real but getting to it was work, and that is the reason I have not gone back.
Would I do it again?
No. Six months of checking for one hour of paid work, and then a card I had to hunt down a way to spend, is not a rate I would repeat. If your profession is the kind companies pay to interview, and a prepaid card is no trouble where you are, the maths looks different for you than it did for me.
Related experiments
I run every one of these the same way: do the thing for real, then report the number. If this one was useful, these are the same kind of test:
- Do apps that pay you to walk actually pay? I tested 7 over 100,000 steps
- Do 3D model platforms actually pay you? Seven sites, what they gave me
- How much my 3D printing side hustle actually makes
The one that actually stuck: of everything I have tested, renting out four things I already owned earns €30–€50 a month for about an hour of work, which is the best work-to-income ratio I have found so far.
