Kirimas.com guide: A Small Specialist Job Board: Validate Employers Before Building
GUIDE · Recurring Businesses · Maintained marketplace

A job board needs both relevant candidates and employers willing to pay for access. Building the website is usually easier than creating that match. A narrow field or region can make the proposition clearer, but listings must be current, legitimate, and useful.

A small offer to test

Start with a manually curated board for one niche and a transparent paid listing option. State listing duration, review criteria, and what exposure you can actually provide.

How to start

  1. Speak with employers and candidates before writing software. Learn where existing boards fail for this specific audience.
  2. Publish authorized listings and verify employer identity and application links. Remove expired jobs promptly.
  3. Test a few paid listings without claiming an audience size you do not have. Report actual views or clicks accurately.

Finding the first buyers

Employers with a difficult-to-reach candidate group are potential customers. A board with no relevant readers is not valuable merely because posting is cheap.

Work through the economics

Five hypothetical $60 listings produce $300. With $70 in hosting, payment costs, and refunds, contribution is $230 before tax, overhead, moderation, and audience-building time.

Contribution is what remains after the costs stated in the example; it is not take-home profit. Include unpaid sales time, setup, support, unsuccessful attempts, and any omitted overhead when deciding whether the idea is worth your time.

What can make it a poor fit

Fake jobs can harm readers. Never accept postings that ask applicants to pay to unlock wages or move money, and maintain a reporting process.

How much work continues?

Listings can produce repeat revenue, but moderation, employer sales, and expiration checks remain active work.

Your first decision point

Find a few legitimate employers willing to pay for a small real audience before investing in a custom platform.
