Wedding quotes can be difficult to compare because packages include different hours, quantities, and extras. A comparison spreadsheet helps couples record those differences before choosing. Its value is showing assumptions clearly, not claiming to know what a wedding should cost in every US market.
A small offer to test
Create a vendor comparison workbook with editable categories, quote dates, inclusions, payment milestones, and questions to ask. Include a fictional example and a simple budget summary.

How to start
- Model several deliberately different quotes and check whether the sheet makes missing information visible.
- Keep deposits, balances, and optional extras separate. Avoid treating refundable payments or taxes inconsistently.
- Test formulas and mobile readability. Include instructions for adding a vendor without breaking totals.
Finding the first buyers
Couples in the planning stage and wedding educators are a relevant audience. A short comparison example can demonstrate value without using a real vendor's private quote.
Work through the economics
Twenty hypothetical $18 sales produce $360. After an assumed $75 in selling costs and refunds, contribution is $285 before tax, overhead, and development time.
Contribution is what remains after the costs stated in the example; it is not take-home profit. Include unpaid sales time, setup, support, unsuccessful attempts, and any omitted overhead when deciding whether the idea is worth your time.
What can make it a poor fit
A spreadsheet is not a contract review. Do not interpret cancellation clauses or promise savings. Encourage buyers to confirm every inclusion directly with vendors.
How much work continues?
The same workbook can serve many buyers, but support and formula maintenance continue. Demand can be seasonal.
Your first decision point
Ask a small paid group to compare two actual quotes and note where they still need outside clarification.
